Emotional Distress

In your work with faculty, staff, students, patients, or visitors you may become aware of or be exposed to thoughts, behaviors, or experiences that concern you. Sometimes the emotional distress may not be very obvious. It is important to “trust your gut” in these situations and take action. Your kind words, expression of concern, and referral to a competent professional or appropriate authority can make a significant difference in the person’s life, his or her family and friends, and the Johns Hopkins community.

Johns Hopkins Medicine produced an excellent video on depression awareness and suicide prevention to help others understand emotional distress.
